In this issue of the SPCC Newsletter, we will be focusing on a very common problem - BACK PAIN. For most people the pain is acute and often resolve in a few weeks. But for some, medical intervention will be necessary to relive the pain.

Through the articles, we hope to share with you some information on the cause of back pain, signs and symptoms, various treatment options and how to prevent back pain. We will also be sharing with you some of our patients' experiences. We hope you will enjoy reading this issue.

Mdm Lee overcomes chronic back pain with spinal cord stimulator

Madam Lee came to Singapore PainCare Center in 2009 with immense pain. The 49 year old lady was complaining of severe back , leg and buttock pain, with numbness on both legs. She had been having difficulty walking for almost 12 months. The pain was so bad that after 100m, she had to stop and rest, until Dr Bernard Lee from the Center solved her problem.

Dr Lee, a Consultant Pain Specialist with more than 15 years of experience, was awarded the Masters of Medicine (Anesthesiology), in 1998. He underwent further training to sub-specialize in pain management and was awarded Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine with the Australia and New Zealand College of Anesthetists.
